Ideally, wedding favors should do more than just remind your guests of the special time you spent with them on your wedding day. The best favors are also items that your family and friends can actually use after the wedding is over. You'll find some economical options in a number of places, ranging from your local dollar or bulk store to wedding stores online.

Collectible Books

Collectible books come in a variety of styles and themes, making them an excellent “keeper” for a wedding. Many local dollar stores have a book section that regularly stock gift book overruns or lovely photo books. While you may not get enough books in one trip, a bit of planning and shopping over the course of several weeks or months will allow you to stock up on the nicest ones.

Once you've found all the books you want, then wrap them in wedding-style wrapping paper. Adding a personalized sticker or card with your wedding information to the book will help guests commemorate the occasion. Finally, if you opt for the photo book option, be sure to include a thank you note plus a picture of you and your intended inside the book; it's a sweet way to give the book a head start.

Bubbles

These favors have become popular, and for the guests who have kids, these can be a fun wedding favor to take home. To make them visually appealing, choose a number of different styles of bottles in your wedding colors and add some beautiful ribbons to the collar of the bottle. Create hand written tags in fancy script that offers the details of the wedding and set them on a table near the door for guests to pick up as they leave. Or better yet, decorate the dining tables of your reception with them, leaving one at each place.

Stationary - Gifts Your Bridesmaids Will Use- Martha Stewart Magazine....

Stationary

Pretty stationary can be such a guilty pleasure, and oftentimes, people will not buy it for themselves. However, there's no doubt that it can be very useful. Look for stationary that matches your wedding theme in some way, whether it features your wedding colors, a common font, or design.

Stock these wedding favors in a large basket that you've lined with the linens and flowers you've used for your wedding. Tie a fancy ribbon around them, but otherwise leave unwrapped since stationary has a wrapping paper sort of decorative quality on its own. Place the stationary in the basket and give one to your guests as they depart.

Candles

Candles add an inexpensive decorative element to almost any space, and fortunately, they're inexpensive as well. Many of the online wedding favor companies sell them, and these you can get personalized with your wedding information. However, if it's your goal to provide your guests with favors they can use, opt for the candles that you find at specialty shops or at the dollar store. They look lovely and come in a variety of colors and styles, making them more adaptable to life after the reception party so to speak.

Photo Frames

People love to display pictures that are important to them, whether they're pictures that capture a moment in a school play or remind one of a special trip to the beach. A photo frame can be a lovely wedding favor and one that your family and friends will display on their mantels or on a favorite table. Additionally, many wedding companies make these so that they fit a decorative theme like a beach wedding or black tie affair, making them an item that one can easily integrate into the décor.

Conclusion

Wedding favors are nice parting gifts that allow you to express your appreciation to your family and friends for attending your special day. Choosing favors that they can use is not only thoughtful, but ensures that they remember the happy time that they spent with you whenever they use it. Finally, while it's certainly permissible to opt for only type of wedding favor that guests can take home, you can choose any combination of the gifts in the list above and create a favor table. This offers your guests more variety and gives your wedding décor some added visual interest to boot.

A wedding is a very special, yet overwhelming event for everyone involved. From the bride and groom to the bridesmaids and groomsmen, everyone has their fair share of responsibility. Before or after a wedding, most brides like to thank their bridesmaids by giving them a special gift out of appreciation. If you are a bride and would like to know some thoughtful ways to thank your bridesmaids, check out the following ideas.

Give Them a Special, Unique Gift

To show your thanks, there are many great gift items you can give to your bridesmaids. If you would like to give something to your bridesmaids that will help them remember the special day, pretty picture frames featuring a photo of all of you together is a wonderful idea. Keep in mind that all the picture frames do not need to be the same. In fact, giving each bridesmaid a different, unique frame will show that you put some thought into it. Another great gift idea for your bridesmaids is anything monogrammed with their names. Whether it is stationery, hand towels, or photo albums, gifts that have been personalized for your bridesmaids are always a hit. High-quality bath and body products, candles, and jewelry are always great ideas for bridesmaids’ gifts as well. If you are having trouble deciding on a gift item for your bridesmaids, you can always choose to give them gift cards to their favorite stores. Although this is a bit less personal, they will still notice your appreciation.

Take Them Out to Dinner

Another thoughtful way to thank your bridesmaids is to take them all out to dinner at a nice restaurant. Not only will it be a yummy dining experience, but it will also be the perfect opportunity to relax and reflect on the big day you all participated in. If you are on a tight budget, you can always choose a restaurant that is moderately-priced. Your bridesmaids will not care how much dinner costs, as long as you make the effort to show your appreciation to them. If you choose the dinner route, you may still want to give them a small gift as a way of saying thanks. After dinner, go out for a few drinks and enjoy the time with your bridesmaids.

Send Them to the Spa

Giving your bridesmaids a trip to the spa is also a wonderful way to thank them. Give them a spa package that contains a massage, facial, and any other services you would like to include. Although this idea is a bit more expensive, your bridesmaids are sure to love every minute of it. Your gratitude will most definitely show through such an amazing gift. You can also set up a day where all of you attend the spa together. This will be more of a personal, special experience for everyone.

All of these ideas are thoughtful ways to thank your bridesmaids. No matter your budget, there is always something nice you can do to show your appreciation to them. By taking the time to show your thanks, your bridesmaids will feel great knowing they were a part of your special day.

Look, there are just some things that you should never, ever, ever do. One of them is sending a love letter to your ex on his or her wedding day. There are some really bad wedding ideas out there, but sending a bride a last minute pronouncement of love is one of the worst of them all. The truth is that you had your chance to make your case in the months or years leading up to the wedding day. So why do so many people end up thinking a last minute appeal to a lost love is going to change anything? Has that ever worked? Unfortunately, there are many people who believe that the world revolves around them. If an ex is getting married, that means that it is an opportunity for them to grab the spotlight. But is such a move ever appropriate? No! This was especially true in one very public case recently. Politics Daily columnist Andrew Cohen didn't just send his ex a love letter on her wedding day, he published it in a column for the entire world to see. So now the entire blogosphere is talking about it and that poor bride's wedding day has been forever marred.

Perhaps you find Andrew Cohen's letter romantic. Read it below and judge for yourself. The truth is that Andrew Cohen had his chances and he made his choices. Let this be a lesson to all of us for what not to do. You simply do not ruin a bride's wedding day with grand pronouncements of lost love.

If you disagree, please feel free to leave a comment at the end of the article. The following is what Andrew Cohen wrote in his column to his ex on her wedding day....

The great love of my life marries today and I am not the groom. I had my chance, a few years ago, but did not realize until too late how fleeting my moment with her was meant to be. Whether it was my fault or hers, and, let's face it, it was probably mine, I will wonder always about the life I might have had with the most loving and loveable woman I have ever known. Sometimes, I finally now understand, love, even crazy love, is not enough. Sometimes, as the romance novelists know, timing is everything. But today is not a day for remorse. It is not a day for lost causes. Today is a day for celebration. The woman I once promised to keep happy is happy. She tells me she is marrying a wonderful man, with a good heart, whom she believes I would have liked had we met in different circumstances. She lives where she wants to live. She has selected her life's path. All that is left for me to do is to wish her well and to hope that she has made the right choice; that she continues to find in him what she did not find in me. And I am sure he considers himself today the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.

The present I humbly send her today is this column; this public note, this irrevocable display of affection and support and gratitude; this worldly absolution from any guilt or sadness she felt between the time she said no to me and the time she said yes to him. No one ought to have to carry that with them into a marriage. I showered her with as much love as I could muster when we were together. I still love her and always will. So I am only too happy to offer my toast to her now, one more time, before she takes her vows.

I want to thank her, mostly, for rescuing me from hopelessness. When we met, back in the spring of 2005, I was nearly 40 and had been dating off and on for two years following an unexpected divorce. I had lost faith in relationships. I had given up on love. She arrived, unexpectedly, and showed me what was possible. She raised me up from the emotional dead. She drew out of me the poison of divorce and betrayal. Eleven years younger but already more mature than me, she was dazzling, brilliant, funny, and sweet; she both gave and taught me patience and devotion and sacrifice. No woman before or since ever made me feel as desired, needed, beloved, appreciated as she did. No one has yet made me want her more. Some men live their whole lives without this kind of love. At least I had it for one brief, shining moment.
