
It is how many designers start, they are frustrated with the selections of great fashion. It happened to Vera Wang. She was getting married to Arthur Becker and felt there wasn't much selection when it came to true fashion. She sketched her own design and commissioned a dressmaker to tailor her design which costed her $10,000. The following year, with financial backing from her family, she opened her own bridal boutique in the luxurious Hotel on Madison Avenue in New York City.
