Melania Knauss, Slovenian super-model choose a Dior wedding gown for her wedding. It was the first time that a bride was the cover model for Vogue. She sure was a beautiful bride. Melania's Galliano designed gown made headline news because it weighed 60 pounds, had 98 yards of beautiful white satin and was encrusted with more than 1500 crystal rhinestones, a 13-foot train, and a 16-foot veil. The gown was estimated to be over $2,00,000 but it is reported that the bride paid much less because of all the favorable publicity that the gown caused. Melania required 4 fitting sessions one of which lasted for four hours. The most stunning features are the gathering of the fabric. She changed at her reception to a Vera Wang dress.

J Crew Wedding Gowns

J- Crew is coming out with some really stunning wedding gowns, competing with some of the formost bridal designers in the industry. From what I have observed, J-Crew uses NICER material than some of the best designers in the business such as raw silks for their wedding gown line. It is very rare for a bridal manufacture to use raw silk, as it is one of the more expensive materials to use. Some European designers use raw silk, but from my experience it is almost never seen. Most companies use a silk-satan blend or satan. Anu Pam, is one company I can recall using Raw Silk, the same with St Pucchi, and Ian Stuart. I am sure many more designers use this material, just to say it is rare to see. If you have ever seen how beautiful raw silk looks, consider it for your gown as it is the most beautiful in my opinion.

Isn't this true? - You are married now 20 years, and chances are, your guest book will be in a box somewhere, while your wedding photo album has been tattered because your kids have pulled it out so many times to look at Mom and Dad on their wedding day. So which do you want to put more energy into? Your wedding photo album, or your guest list? Why not combine them? How many times do people read a "sign in" guest list years after their wedding? People often don't look at these again because there isn't any touching comments, rather just a list of guests that have attended.

What if I can tell you your scrap book will be instantly done before your dinner is served at your wedding? With a traditional Guest book, usually the comments are short, and couples sign as one.

Instead of having your guest sign in at an obvious-expected guest book table, you could have a colorful index card under each of the plate chargers. This can allow a personal message from everyone, than just a signature.

My Mother in Law has the most beautiful albums. Her books are simply binders with pictures mounted with old fashioned picture corners. The nicest part of her albums is they all match. You can look at her 20 plus albums and they are all in order. She doesn't have miss-matched books, as they are simply JUST white binders with clear page protectors. She starts with her own childhood, and her husbands childhood. A couple albums in you can see their wedding, and then their children's weddings, and afterwards. Not only does it look like a nice collection, it is a continuous theme. The overall look of the albums isn't cluttered, but simply beautiful.

- You could PRE-Print your Index cards to have a picture at the top that would fit in with your photo album, or your wedding theme. It is just a matter of getting the old fashioned picture corners that hold the card in place.

- You could print out directions on the back of the index cards such as, Please sign your name and ANSWER one of the 4 questions.

"What is the secret ingredient to keeping a strong marriage?"
"What moment stands out to you when thinking about Brad and Jennifer?"
"What characteristics do you see in them that will keep their marriage strong?

Have your bridesmaids pick up the cue cards before the meal begins, so you will be guaranteed that no potatoes and gravy make their way into your scrapbook. People often feel rushed getting into weddings that they do not take the time to write something meaningful at a guest book signing. The time that your guests are waiting is usually at the table, so why not utilize that time to your benefit, ...........and give your guests something to do if small talk dries out quickly.

Your wedding hairstyle is important, because your photos will not only be kept by you, but your entire family and friends. What do I do first? ----The first thing we suggest doing is having a look at bridal photos. Narrow your favorite photos down to 3 or 4.

Also, it is also helpful to look back into your photo's and see which hairstyle looks the very best on you.

If you have some time to try out the styles, try them out for a day, and have a good friend experiment taking some pictures. Try some fun pictures from every angle.

Remember that considerations should be made when you are wearing a tiara, or a veil.

Here are some suggestions worth thinking about:

1. Which stylist are you planning on using? Some people underestimate beauty schools. These up- and coming hairstylists are willing to put in the extra effort for their portfolios. Some of them would allow you to come several times for some different hairstyles. As well, they wouldn't mind making some money on the side come your wedding day. Always pay for their services, even at each consultation* If you go the traditional route, and choose a hair salon, be sure to have a trail appointment where you try the hair style out in advance. You should be able to express your likes and dislikes without feeling as though you are being unreasonable.

2. What length of hair looks the very best on you? It is important to consult with your stylist well in advance and make a decision. Again, look at your pictures from the past. Is there one picture where you look better in one length? Long hair obviously gives the stylist much freedom to do some elaborate styles. If you do not have long hair, don't think you cannot add to your hair using extensions. One bridal show I was in, I used 4 extensions and made a beautiful style of braids, all in an up do. Think out of the box with extensions. They really can make a fairytale look.

3. Have your hair compliment your wedding dress. You do not want to wear a ornate jacket, and have your hair long. Smooth, straight hair and pinned up curls are often paired up with smooth satin gowns for sleek traditional looks. Tulle dresses and very old fashioned styles look hot with loose curls.

4. Take into consideration your dress style. If your dress is straight, or A-Line, consider a sleek style. If your dress is a full skirt, consider a hairstyle that has a bit more volume to balance the dress.

5. Be sure to wash your hair the night before your consultation, and come in with a plan of which picture you would like to try. Arrange to take photographs that day as well.

6. Take your veil and headpiece/ tiara with you. The stylist can work in those elements into your hairstyle.

7. If you are incorporating a new color that you think would look nice, be sure to try out the different hairstyles with that color.

8. Don't wait until right before your wedding to have your hair colored. I was entered into a beauty pageant, and decided to go blonde the night before. What a nightmare, my hair went yellow. To make matters worse, I phoned the pageant director and asked to drop out the night before. She didn't pick up the phone, and the next day when it was fixed, not only did I ruin my reputation to her, but also to the contestants. Plan on coloring your hair a week in advance. It will also allow you to get used to the color for a week. AGAIN, try the color out months before your wedding day. You do not want to go red, and then have to bleach it out, and mess up your hair on the week of your wedding.

9. After you have decided on your style, make sure you walk around with it. How does it look at the end of the day?
10. Your veil length will have some influence on your choice of hairstyle. Normally, the veil is longer than the hair. It is often secured in back swept hair (for up dos) and it's important to make sure the style can hold the veil in place.

11. Do not discount flowers, pins, and beads for your headpiece. For example if you choose pearls in your hair, you can coordinate it with a pearl necklace and the rest of your jewelry.

Planning in advance is well worth the trouble when it comes to your special day!

Ian Best known for his fairytale looks, it is often the first designer a bride finds for the "cinderella look" Ian Stuart, well known bridal fashion designer and winner UK Best Bridal Designer of & Designer of the Year in 2004, 05, 06 and 07 and winner of the UK Outstanding Contribution to the Industry award in 2008 is a designer not often missed in this industry. This red wedding gown was one of the nicest in his collection. Today more brides are opting for color. Red has been a popular color in the past years for a secondary bridal gown.

I have to say this was one of the most elaborate gowns I have seen in person. The train on this gown was extremely beautiful. The gown was made from raw silk, and the most impressive part was the train which was gathered in bunches and hand sewn. The corset of the gown didn't fit that well, as it wasn't the classic tie up gowns that are seen with Maggie Sottero but rather this gown was one which had a zipper. If I can recall, this gown retailed for around 5K. If you are hoping to design one very close to this dress, consider purchasing a gown which the corset is already crafted such as the Strapless Beaded Red Dress from US Fairytailes. In this instance, you could craft a separate skirt with an additional train which you can detach. Sewing such a heavy skirt with a lot of gatherings makes this skirt very heavy, so it would be ideal for the skirt and top to be separate. Taffeta and raw silk are both excellent fabrics for heavy skirts as this design as they tend to balloon out and appear over-sized. In addition, these fabrics are lightweight compared to heavier fabrics such as silk satin.
