Actress Milla Jovovich and sci-fi director Paul W.S. Anderson, got married on 22nd of August at their their Beverly Hills Spanish-style home. The couple met during the movie Resident Evil.

The bride designed her own wedding dress, which was inspired by the 60’s styles. Her hair was down and wavy, decorated with red flowers. Anderson wore a beige suit. Before the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception by the pool, where guests were entertained by a Spanish guitarist and a female vocalist. The reception featured traditional Cuban music, decked out with red and white flowers and a round four-tiered white cake decorated with a ribbon. The flowers in her bouquet are stunning white Phalaenopsis Orchids, Marroussia Roses and Hydrangea.

Vera Wang stumbled on the idea of starting her own line when she was frustrated shopping for her own wedding gown. She sketched her own design and commissioned a dressmaker to tailor her design which costed her $10,000. The following year, with financial backing from her family, she opened her own bridal boutique in the luxurious Hotel on Madison Avenue in New York City. Catering to mostly to celebrities and socialites she offered couture gowns and high fashion. Over a few years she utilized her own skills as a fashion designer and started her own label with her own signature collection. Vera Wang has been honored with a number of awards for her achievements, including the 1993 Chinese American Planning Council’s Honoree of the Year Award and the 1994 Girl Scout Council’s Woman of Distinction Award. Later that year, she was elected as a member of the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). In 2005, the CFDA selected Wang as the Womenswear Designer of the Year amongst many other achievements.

Her name is Rani Totman, and since 1985, she has designed every gown of the St. Pucchi Signature and Haute Couture, Avine Perucci, and Sposa by St. Pucchi Collection. Her collections aim to raise bridal fashion to the level of artistry, not seen since the 18th century. Rani is truly dedicated designer/business woman and a risk-taker. 'I am constantly in pursuit of perfection,' she says.

At age 20, she started a retail tailoring business of her own in Bangkok. Gaining experience in gown tailoring and design. She then had an opportunity participating in Paris prêt-a-porter and Igedo, Dusseldorf, where she got a name for her self.

In 1990 she was a finalist in the category of Best Bridal Designer in Dallas and then was also nominated three consecutive years as a Style Innovator at the Chicago Apparel Center's Debi awards. After receiving the 1995 Debi Award for Best Bridal Designer, she was nominated again in the same category the following year. 'St. Pucchi offers the bride an alternative to traditional styling,' says Rani. Not following the seasonal trends has always landed her in first place in fashion.

Rani Totman travels the world seeking the most luxurious silks, crystals and lace for her signature gowns. There are many knock-offs with St Pucchi gowns, but one main difference with St Pucchi and most Bridal Gown Designers, is the silk fabric. The silk often gives off a two dimensional look that satin does not have. All the details such as the appliqués and crystals are also higher end, pushing the price for one of these gowns into the thousands. The higher end materials makes a difference even in the photographs. Rani spends most of her time in Bangkok but also has a home in Los Angeles. 'Staying on the ground for more than 2 weeks is a luxury I wish I could afford,' she says. Between the numerous trunk shows, appearances, and trade shows she attends, Rani also makes at least 4 to 6 trips to Bangkok annually with sporadic visits to Hong Kong or Japan

Ian Best known for his fairytale looks, it is often the first designer a bride finds for the "cinderella look" Ian Stuart, well known bridal fashion designer and winner UK Best Bridal Designer of & Designer of the Year in 2004, 05, 06 and 07 and winner of the UK Outstanding Contribution to the Industry award in 2008 is a designer not often missed in this industry. This red wedding gown was one of the nicest in his collection. Today more brides are opting for color. Red has been a popular color in the past years for a secondary bridal gown.

I have to say this was one of the most elaborate gowns I have seen in person. The train on this gown was extremely beautiful. The gown was made from raw silk, and the most impressive part was the train which was gathered in bunches and hand sewn. The corset of the gown didn't fit that well, as it wasn't the classic tie up gowns that are seen with Maggie Sottero but rather this gown was one which had a zipper. If I can recall, this gown retailed for around 5K. If you are hoping to design one very close to this dress, consider purchasing a gown which the corset is already crafted such as the Strapless Beaded Red Dress from US Fairytailes. In this instance, you could craft a separate skirt with an additional train which you can detach. Sewing such a heavy skirt with a lot of gatherings makes this skirt very heavy, so it would be ideal for the skirt and top to be separate. Taffeta and raw silk are both excellent fabrics for heavy skirts as this design as they tend to balloon out and appear over-sized. In addition, these fabrics are lightweight compared to heavier fabrics such as silk satin.

The Maria Luisa Black Silk Taffeta gown by Galliano for Dior has got to be one of the most stunning gowns that have been made.

This dress, which is known as the Maria Luisa, is held in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The Metropolitan Museum of Art's website describes it as:

‘In this design, John Galliano for Dior combined the elements of a robe à la française with the vast crinolined silhouettes of the mid-nineteenth century. The stomacher, open overskirt, and petticoat are expressly eighteenth century, but the huge wired cages that support the skirts over nine feet wide are constructed more like the hoops of the Second Empire than the discrete by comparison panniers of the ancien régime. While the eighteenth-century woman could at least sidle through a doorway, Galliano’s beauties, because of the depths of their skirts, would have to torque and deform their hoops to squeeze their way through.’
